Operation Brock Hits Europe-Bound Travellers on M20
Passengers heading to Europe face fresh delays as Operation Brock tightens traffic controls on the M20. The scheme manages freight flow to the continent and is part of Kent’s plan to handle channel disruptions.
Major M20 Restrictions in Place
The coastbound M20 between junctions 8 (Maidstone) and 12 (Folkestone) is shut to non-freight traffic. Entry slip roads at junctions 9, 10, and 11 are also closed eastbound. Meanwhile, the London-bound carriageway remains open and flowing.
Non-freight drivers are rerouted to the Eurotunnel via the A20, while tourists aiming for Dover’s port must use the A2 and M2.
Warnings for Freight and Tourists
- Freight drivers must join Operation Brock at M20 junction 8 and obey all signs.
- Attempting to jump queues risks a £300 fine plus being sent to the back by police.
- Over 100 fixed penalties issued in the last 24 hours for noncompliance.

“Drivers should plan for long delays, bring plenty of water, food, and medicines, and check their vehicles carefully before travelling. The KRF is doing all it can to ease queues, but safety must come first – be prepared.”
