Massive Blaze Hits Hackney Flats: 12 Fire Engines Battle Flames
A huge fire ripped through a block of flats on Dalston Lane, Hackney, this Tuesday morning. Fire crews were rushed to the scene just after 9:20am, with 12 fire engines and around 100 firefighters and officers tackling the blaze.
Firefighters Battling Intense Flat Fire
Crews arrived to find a fully developed fire raging through a four-storey block. Flats on the second and third floors suffered heavy damage. Station Commander Chris Swallow said: “Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from the top floor of the flat.”
Road Closures and Travel Disruptions
Dalston Lane remains closed as emergency services work to make the area safe, causing heavy congestion. Local bus routes 30 and 56 are diverting around the scene. Authorities urge residents to avoid the area if possible.
Fire Under Control, Investigation Underway
The fire was brought under control by 12:44pm. Firefighters from Homerton, Stoke Newington, Leyton, Islington, and other nearby stations joined in the efforts. The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
