Fire Blazes Through Roof at Claremont Prep School, East Sussex
East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service has rushed to tackle a fire blazing in the roof at Claremont Preparatory School on Ebdens Hill, St. Leonards-On-Sea.
Six Fire Engines Battle Blaze
A spokesperson for East Sussex Fire Service revealed: “At 12:26pm, we were called to reports of a roof fire on Ebdens Hill, Westfield. Six pumps are currently at the scene from Bohemia Road, The Ridge, Battle, Bexhill, and Herstmonceux.”
Units from Sussex Police are also on site providing traffic management support.
Residents Urged to Stay Indoors
Authorities have urged everyone in the area to stay inside, closing all windows and doors. They also warned drivers to avoid the area where possible to ease congestion and allow emergency services unimpeded access.
Traffic Diversions in Place
Southbound/coastbound drivers are advised to follow local signs marked with a hollow circle:
- Exit the A21 at B2089 Park Lane
- Head east to Cripps Corner then onto the B2089
- Turn right at Broad Oak junction with the A28
- Follow A28 towards Hastings and rejoin the A21 at Baldslow
Northbound/Londonbound traffic should follow signs with a hollow square:
- Exit A21 at Baldslow and merge onto A28
- Continue to intersection with B2089 at Broad Oak
- Turn left and drive west on B2089 via Cripps Corner
- Continue on B2089 until reaching A21
