Hackney Murder: 11th Arrest Made in Steven Brown Case
Detectives probing the savage killing of Steven Brown in Hackney have made their 11th arrest. A 27-year-old man was detained on Friday, April 26, at a north London police station. He remains in custody but has been released under investigation as enquiries continue.
Stabbing Shocks Stoke Newington
Steven, 47, was brutally stabbed to death on Matthias Road, Stoke Newington, on Wednesday, April 17. Police were called at 5.47pm to reports of the attack. Officers and emergency crews, including London’s Air Ambulance, rushed to the scene. Steven was found with a fatal stab wound to the heart. Despite CPR and emergency efforts, he died at 6.10pm.
A post-mortem confirmed haemorrhage caused by the stabbing as the cause of death. Steven’s family are receiving specialist support from officers.
Police Continue to Hunt for Answers
So far, 11 people have been arrested in connection with Steven’s murder. Four men (aged 23 and 25) arrested on suspicion of murder on April 20 were released under investigation. Another 24-year-old suspect arrested on April 24 was also released pending further enquiries.
- A 62-year-old man arrested on murder suspicion was bailed to return in early May.
- A 33-year-old woman, a 57-year-old man, and a 58-year-old man were released under investigation.
- A 49-year-old man arrested for perverting the course of justice was also released under investigation.
