Child Sex Offender Jailed Again for Flouting Internet Ban

Convicted paedophile broke strict internet rules

Samuel Moodie, previously convicted in 2017 for possessing indecent images of children, was slapped with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO). The order banned him from using or owning any device capable of internet access — unless he notified police first. It also barred him from accessing cloud storage without giving police full access details.

Police find 30,000 vile images despite ban

But police caught Moodie red-handed during a search of his home. They discovered a staggering 30,000 indecent images of children, including the most serious category A, on three devices. They also uncovered details for a Google Drive cloud account packed with illegal material.

Jailed at York Crown Court for shocking crimes

In September 2023, Moodie was found guilty of three counts of making indecent images, one count of possessing prohibited images, and breaching his SHPO. On 10 November, York Crown Court sentenced him to jail.

Police vow to hunt down offenders and protect children

“Samuel Moodie blatantly flouted the order and once again accessed and saved some truly hideous images of child sex abuse,” said Detective Constable Kerri Jones of North Yorkshire Police’s Online Child Abuse Team.

“I’m pleased he’s back behind bars, where he cannot contribute to sharing such disturbing and harmful images. Those who distribute child abuse material cause ongoing sexual exploitation and re-victimisation of children.

“Thanks to our Digital Forensic Unit’s expertise and dedication, we uncovered the digital evidence needed for conviction. This sentence should be a clear warning — police will track down and prosecute those involved in making or sharing indecent images of children.”
