A serving Metropolitan Police officer has been charged with a series of sexual offences against three men and a woman. Police Sergeant Lee Symons, who was suspended from duty in December 2022, is facing multiple charges in relation to incidents spanning over a decade.
All of the alleged victims are said to have been known to PS Symons, and the offences are believed to have occurred during his time as a serving police officer.
Symons, aged 48, is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 27 January 2025. The charges have shocked both the public and the police force, raising serious concerns about the conduct of officers entrusted with upholding the law.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “The alleged offences are extremely serious and will be dealt with through the criminal justice system. PS Symons has been suspended since December 2022, and we are fully cooperating with the ongoing legal process.”
Symons’ arrest and the subsequent charges highlight growing concerns about misconduct within the police force, with calls for increased transparency and accountability in law enforcement agencies.
The investigation into the alleged offences is ongoing, and anyone with further information is urged to come forward to assist in the inquiry.
