Miracle on the A5! A driver walked away unscathed after a nasty two-vehicle smash involving a stationary HGV on the A5 in South Staffordshire this morning.

Driver’s Lucky Escape After Morning Crash

Emergency crews, including paramedics and police, rushed to the scene after a car slammed into a parked heavy goods vehicle during rush hour. Despite the nasty impact, the motorist was only left with a scratch – prompting first responders to call it a stroke of luck.

“The driver was extremely lucky. Despite the severity of the impact, they escaped with just a scratch. It’s definitely one of those ‘time to put the lottery numbers on’ moments,” said a police spokesperson.

Clear Skies, But Driver Missed Stationary HGV

Investigators say the driver failed to spot the stationary lorry in time. Weather and lighting conditions were clear, with no signs of intoxication or mechanical failure. Police urge all motorists to stay vigilant around slow or stationary vehicles.

Traffic Back to Normal After Quick Clear-Up

The A5 dual carriageway was temporarily disrupted but reopened within hours with traffic flowing smoothly. No charges have been made yet as enquiries into the crash continue.
