Twisted Security Guard’s Sick Plot to Kidnap and Murder Holly Willoughby Busted
Life Sentence Stands for Deranged Guard’s Heinous Scheme
A deranged security guard’s sick plot to kidnap, rape, and murder TV darling Holly Willoughby has been smashed by the courts. Gavin Plumb, 38, was given a life sentence with a minimum of 16 years last July after being found guilty of soliciting murder and encouraging others to kidnap and rape the presenter.
During a police raid on Plumb’s flat in Harlow, Essex, officers found bottles of chloroform and a chilling “abduction kit” stuffed with cable ties. Evidence showed he planned to ambush Holly at her family home and even intended to take time off work to carry out his depraved plan.
Plumb tried to claim it was all fantasy. But Mr Justice Murray slammed the plot as “particularly sadistic, brutal and degrading,” ruling it went far beyond mere fantasy.
Appeal Rejected – Judges Call Plumb a Dangerous Threat
Desperate to dodge jail, Plumb appealed his sentence at London’s Royal Courts of Justice, claiming it was “manifestly excessive.” But judges swiftly tore down his plea.
Lord Justice Edis said: “This is a case where the offender clearly is dangerous and where there is no way of knowing when or if ever that will cease.” He called the life sentence “unimpeachable.”
Crown Prosecution: Life Term Needed to Protect Public
Alison Morgan KC, prosecutor, hammered home the danger Plumb posed to Holly Willoughby.
“The harm intended was of the very highest level,” she told court. “The risk could only be met with a life sentence.”
How the Twisted Plot Was Exposed
The sick plan was uncovered when an undercover US officer infiltrated ‘Abduct Lovers,’ a vile online group. Using the fake name ‘David Nelson,’ the cop confirmed Plumb’s intent to kidnap Holly.
US authorities tipped off the FBI, who quickly alerted UK police. When caught in October 2023, Plumb chillingly admitted: “I’m not gonna lie, she is a fantasy of mine.”
Sick Past of Kidnap Attempts and Celebrity Obsession
Plumb’s madness stretches back years. He was jailed in 2008 for holding a 16-year-old at knifepoint and trying to kidnap cabin crew from trains. Once released, his obsession shifted to female celebs.
- He hoarded millions of images of Holly and other stars.
- Tracked Holly’s movements obsessively.
- Stockpiled chloroform, handcuffs, shackles, and 400 heavy-duty cable ties.
- Shared gruesome videos of his “restraint kit” with the undercover officer, believing he had an accomplice.
Holly Willoughby Speaks Out: Thanks Police for Stopping Plot
The beloved presenter, who stepped down from This Morning after the shocking revelations, thanked police for thwarting the horrifying plan.
“As women, we should not be made to feel unsafe going about our daily lives and in our own homes,” Holly said. “I will forever be grateful to the undercover officer who saw the imminent threat and to the police for their swift action.”
Thanks to swift, sharp police work, this twisted predator’s darkest dreams will remain locked behind bars for years to come.
