Tragic Baby Adiyat’s Last Hours After Horrific Abuse
Baby Adiyat Hossain died after suffering terrible whiplash injuries at the hands of his own father, Mohammed Kabir Hossain. The 48-year-old was found guilty of manslaughter and locked up for nine years on November 28.
Adiyat collapsed into cardiac arrest on June 10, 2022, after his father violently shook him. The infant fought for life in intensive care for four months before doctors made the heartbreaking decision to switch off life support.
Judge Slams ‘Selfish’ Dad for Deadly Attack
Judge Nicholas Lavender blasted Hossain in court: “I’m not sure you intended to harm Adiyat, but you gave no conscious thought to the risk. Your selfish goal was to silence him — and you succeeded forever.”
Shock Details: Panicked Dad’s Lies Exposed
- Adiyat’s mum, Fatema Mansur, left the house at 12:04pm with the baby asleep and fine.
- Hossain was alone with Adiyat for just 13 minutes before panicking and calling his wife at 12:17pm.
- He dialled 999 eight minutes later, claiming Adiyat was fine — until he suddenly stopped breathing.
- Initially, Hossain denied shaking his son or causing injury.
- On day 11 of the trial, he admitted shaking Adiyat to “revive” him — but the judge branded this a lie, citing dangerous delays in calling for help.
Horrific Injuries Reveal Prolonged Abuse
The court heard Adiyat suffered brutal injuries: bleeding inside his eyes and brain suffocating him, six fractured ribs, broken shoulder blades, and a broken right arm — all signs of repeated abuse.
Fatema Mansur broke down in court, saying, “I feel very sad and upset. As a mum, I’m heartbroken. I know what I have lost and will always think about Adiyat.”
Jailed for Manslaughter – What Happens Next?
Hossain, who has lived in the UK for 19 years, will serve at least two-thirds of his nine-year sentence before possible release on licence. This horrific case once again shines a brutal spotlight on the deadly reality of child abuse.
