Penarth Man Locked Up for Brutal Rape and Strangulation of Sex Worker
Twisted Attack Rocks Cardiff
A 25-year-old man from Penarth, William Adesanya, has been hit with a 16-year jail term plus six years on extended licence after he viciously raped and strangled a sex worker in Cardiff.
The horrifying ordeal lasted just 30 minutes but saw Adesanya attack the victim three times after luring her to her home.
Gruesome Court Details Unveiled
At Newport Crown Court, chilling details emerged. Adesanya first trapped the terrified woman in a crushing “bear hug” and whispered, “don’t panic, you just need to give me £200.”
When she started crying, telling him she had no money, she tried to snap his photo. Furious, he snatched and deleted her phone messages.
He then strangled her, telling her: “If you didn’t struggle, this wouldn’t have happened.” The victim lost consciousness as he continued his attack.
When she awoke, he had removed her shorts and underwear and was “moving her body.” Showing no pity, he left her sprawled on the floor as she tried to grab her phone again.
Enraged, Adesanya dragged her back, pinned her down and brutally raped her — filming himself forcing vaginal and oral sex while she begged for mercy in tears. Judge Carl Harrison said Adesanya “could not care less.”
Victim’s Heartbreaking Statement
“My anxiety is extremely high, and I’m nervous about being out in public. The first time I took the bins out, I threw up because of anxiety.”
“They say skin takes seven years to regenerate. I’m counting down so my skin isn’t the same skin he touched.”
“He has destroyed every ounce of my confidence, self-love, and mental progress. I hate my body, hate how I look, even hate touching myself.”
“I was excited for my future — now I feel broken and lost. But I’ll heal and find myself again.”
“I hope you’re forced to face just how cruel and devastating your actions were.”
Judge Labels Adesanya ‘Very Dangerous’
Despite a previously clean record, Adesanya was convicted of three counts of rape, sexual assault, and intentional strangulation.
Prosecutor Andrew Davies said Adesanya targeted a vulnerable woman for “gratuitous degradation.”
Defence lawyer described him as a “hard-working young man” supported by worried parents.
Judge Harrison, however, branded him “a very dangerous individual” with no sign of remorse.
The court imposed an indefinite restraining order banning Adesanya from contacting any sex workers.
Police Praise Victim’s Courage
Following sentencing, the victim thanked DC Nick Young and South Wales Police for their “patience, kindness and compassion” during a “long, emotional journey.”
DC Young hailed her “exceptional bravery” and vowed to continue hunting predators who target the vulnerable.
