  • The collision hit the A289 Gads Hill near Waterside Lane at around 12:10pm on Monday, 29 December 2025.
  • Pier Road is shut from The Strand all the way to Lower Rainham Road.
  • Lower Rainham Road is also closed near Eastcourt Lane junction.
  • Yokosuka Way is blocked near McDonald’s on Beechings Way, causing chaos for drivers.
  • Police dog units and patrols scour the Eastcourt Lane and Grange Road area as part of the hunt.

The air ambulance was spotted speeding in earlier, highlighting the gravity of the incident. Motorists can still access The Strand Lido and car park, but the Strand Roundabout remains off limits.

Locals Report Gunshot-Like Sounds, Police Deny Firearms Involvement

“I parked near The Three Mariners pub just after 1pm and heard what sounded like gunshots. Thought it was a farmer’s scaregun. The helicopter was circling nearby,” said a stunned local woman.

Despite the eerie noises, police have confirmed no firearms were involved.
