Soham Killer Ian Huntley Left Bloodied and Broken After Prison Attack

Ian Huntley, the man behind the horrific murders of Soham schoolgirls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, remains in hospital seriously wounded after a violent assault inside prison.

Huntley Brutally Attacked at HMP Frankland

The 52-year-old was reportedly bludgeoned with a makeshift weapon in a prison workshop at HMP Frankland, a high-security jail in County Durham. He was discovered lying in a pool of blood.

Durham Constabulary confirmed on Friday that Huntley’s condition had seen “no change overnight” and he remains in serious condition at hospital.

The suspected attacker, a male prisoner in his mid-40s, was detained but has not yet been arrested. A police probe is ongoing, with detectives working closely with prison staff.

Violence a Daily Threat at ‘Monster Mansion’

HMP Frankland is notorious for its brutality, housing some of Britain’s most dangerous criminals, including murderers and rapists. The jail is grimly nicknamed “monster mansion” due to its extreme violence record.

Huntley has faced attacks before. In 2010, he was slashed across the throat, requiring 21 stitches. And back in 2005, a convicted murderer threw boiling water over him at HMP Wakefield.

Remembering the Soham Tragedy

Huntley remains behind bars serving a life sentence for the chilling 2002 killings of 10-year-olds Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman.

The victims’ faces — captured wearing their red Manchester United football kits just hours before their disappearance — became etched in the national memory during the massive search involving 400 officers and hundreds of volunteers.

Their bodies were found nearly two weeks later dumped in a Suffolk ditch. Huntley was arrested the same day and later sentenced to a minimum of 40 years.

“In your lies and manipulation up to this very day, you have increased the suffering you have caused the two families,” said the judge at Huntley’s sentencing.

Huntley’s former girlfriend Maxine Carr was also jailed for giving him a false alibi but has since been released.
