A reckless driver has been slammed with a 17-year jail sentence after speeding at more than twice the limit and causing a fatal smash in Rochester.
Speeding at 77mph, Drunk Driver Kills Two Innocents
Isidoro Olim, 35, was tearing along City Way in his BMW 118i at around midnight on October 29, 2022. The speed limit was 30mph, but he was pushing 77mph before slamming the brakes to 65mph right before he crashed into a Skoda pulling out of a driveway.
The deadly collision killed two men in their 50s instantly. Two other passengers were badly injured and rushed to the hospital.
Driver Denies Then Admits Guilt, Partner Also Sentenced
Olim, who had been drinking that night, tried to pass the blame to his partner, claiming she was behind the wheel. He refused to answer police questions initially but confessed three months later that he was the driver.

At Maidstone Crown Court, he first denied dangerous driving charges but then changed his plea to guilty, earning a 17-year, two-month sentence.
Olim’s partner, Isabel Nunes, was handed 20 months for trying to cover up the truth by faking injuries and deleting phone records.

Investigator Hits Out at Reckless Behaviour
“Olim’s reckless decision to drive drunk and at reckless speeds has devastated two families. His attempts to dodge responsibility showed no remorse,” said Detective Constable Hannah Mungeam. “I hope this sentence brings some closure to those affected.”
