Heartbroken Mum Pays Tribute to ‘Brightest Smile’
The lifeless body of seven-year-old Nyla May Bradshaw was discovered in a pond at Owston Hall golf course, Doncaster, following a large-scale search on Monday morning. Her devastated mum, Hayley Beardsley, released a touching tribute, saying:
“It breaks my heart to write this, but today we lost our beautiful daughter Nyla May Bradshaw at just seven years old. She was our whole world, full of love, laughter, and the brightest smile that could light up any room. She brought so much joy into our lives and into the lives of everyone who knew her. Our sweet little girl will be loved forever and never, ever forgotten. Forever 7 my girl, this isn’t goodbye – it’s an until we meet again. You have family up there who will look after you. You were too special for this earth. Run as free as you want now, my gorgeous girl.”

Huge Search Effort at Popular Golf Course
Emergency services launched an urgent search after Nyla May was reported missing from the Skellow area. Police, paramedics, air ambulance, and police helicopters swarmed the scene at Owston Hall Golf Course, a scenic 80-acre site with multiple water features.
A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson confirmed: “Following an extensive search, the child was located in a pond on Owston Hall golf course.” Despite desperate efforts to save her, Nyla May was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family have been informed and are receiving support from officers.
Community Mourns; Investigation Underway
Family friend Charlotte Emma told the press: “She was loved by us all. Her mother only wants her memory to live on and for everyone to see how happy she really was.” Police have launched a major investigation into the tragedy and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward, quoting incident number 198 of 30 March.
Owston Hall golf course, established in 1988, sits between Carcroft and Owston on Owston Lane. It is well known for picturesque parkland and water hazards, now the scene of heartbreaking loss.
