Kieron Thomas, 27, has been slammed behind bars for 24 years after a terrifying shotgun attack near a park on Dudley Road, Wolverhampton, on August 27. The victim suffered serious injuries to his body and left arm but miraculously managed to reach a nearby home to call for help.
Fast Police Response Nets Armed Gunman
West Midlands Police revealed the shooting was sparked by a fallout involving people linked to Thomas. CCTV footage pieced together the tense moments leading up to the brutal assault.
Armed officers swooped on Thomas’s Wolverhampton home after identifying him as the prime suspect. He tried to escape by scrambling over fences and darting through gardens, but police drones and dog units quickly cornered and captured him.
Weapons and Evidence Seized
During the raid, officers found a balaclava and a glove, each stuffed with a shotgun cartridge. A further 27 cartridges were recovered from the property. Thomas, from Elizabeth Avenue, pleaded guilty to attempted murder and possessing a firearm with intent at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
Justice Served as Gunman Sentenced
On Friday, November 21, Thomas was jailed for 24 years. Firearms officers gave emergency first aid at the scene before paramedics arrived, a swift response that saved the victim’s life.
