A Metropolitan Police officer has been booted from the force after admitting to hiring sex workers and dealing Class A drugs during overseas trips. Detective Constable Pervaz Malik, part of the Central West Command Unit, faced a grim misconduct panel that revealed his shocking behaviour.
Shocking Breach of Trust on Foreign Trips
Between 2016 and August 2023, DC Malik didn’t just hire sex workers for himself—he organised them for others too. Alongside this, he bought, used, and even helped supply Class A drugs while abroad. His dodgy dealings weren’t limited to foreign soil; in February 2024, he purposely withheld the correct access code to his mobile phone during a criminal probe.
Crime, Corruption, and Consequences
The investigation was led by the Met’s Anti-Corruption Command and overseen by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC). Malik was arrested at Stansted Airport in August 2023 on suspicion of conspiracy to supply controlled drugs. However, the Crown Prosecution Service later dropped the case with no further action.
Despite this, the misconduct panel didn’t hold back. Malik was suspended after his arrest and, following the hearing, was swiftly dismissed without notice.
Met Chief Slams “Serious Breach of Public Trust”
“Police play a vital role in protecting individuals who are at heightened risk of violence and exploitation, and any deviation from that duty represents a serious breach of public trust,” said Detective Chief Superintendent Chrissy Jessah.
“DC Malik would have been fully aware that he was acting in clear violation of his obligations to safeguard the public, as well as the strict rules governing drug use. His conduct was wholly unacceptable and fell significantly short of the standards expected by the organisation and the public.”
Malik will now be added to the College of Policing’s Barred List, banning him from any future employment in policing, policing bodies, or related oversight organisations.
