Police rushed to Red Lion Place at 8.50am today (April 1) after reports of a man armed with a knife. The horrifying scene unfolded quickly.
Tragic Attack Leaves Woman Dead
At the scene, officers and London Ambulance paramedics found a woman with serious injuries. She was rushed to the hospital but sadly later died.
Man in 60s Arrested on Murder Suspicion
A man in his 60s handed himself in at a nearby police station just after 9.10am. He was arrested on suspicion of murder and taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Police believe the woman and the suspect knew each other. No other suspects are being sought.

“This is a deeply tragic incident,” said Detective Inspector Dean Grice. “Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family during this difficult time.”
“Officers worked quickly with paramedics to provide care. A detailed investigation is underway, and specialist officers are supporting the family.”
Detective Superintendent James Derham added: “We believe this was an isolated event. There is no wider risk to the public.”
“Expect to see more police patrols in the area. Locals with concerns should speak to officers or call 101.”
