Gill Denton has paid a heartbreaking tribute to her sister, Lisa Denton, who tragically died after a shocking incident outside a bar in North Shields.
Fitness Fanatic’s Life Cut Short on Rare Night Out
Lisa, 40, was a dedicated fitness lover and IT professional known for her discipline and hard work. She rarely went out, devoting most of her time to caring for their terminally ill mother and training in martial arts. But on January 24, during a rare night out with her close friend, everything changed. The pair enjoyed an Italian meal and some drinks before Lisa was seriously injured outside Charlie’s Bar. She was rushed to the Royal Victoria Infirmary with a critical head injury but sadly died in hospital days later.
Sister Recounts Agonising Final Moments
Gill revealed the devastating moment she held Lisa’s hand as she slipped away. “They put her on the bed and made her comfortable. I was told there was nothing else they could do. I said, ‘That can’t be right.’” “She was semi-conscious and held my hand. When she died, tears ran down her face. She didn’t want to go.” “Seeing her at the chapel of rest was worse — the trauma was awful. It wasn’t the Lisa I knew.”
Man Charged with Manslaughter Awaits Trial
19-year-old Liam Moor, from East Howdon but now living outside Tyneside, was charged with manslaughter and pleaded not guilty in February. His trial is scheduled for September. Gill described Lisa as “a kind soul who helped anyone” and said her tragic death shows how quickly life can change.
