A pensioner in his 70s is fighting for his life after a brutal assault near Waitrose in Cheltenham.
Police Hunt Two Men Over Violent Incident
Police launched an urgent investigation following a serious attack on Honeybourne Way at around 7.30pm on Wednesday, 8 April. The victim was rushed to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and remains in a critical condition. Officers have released CCTV images of two men they want to identify. The pair were last seen on the Millennium Bridge, where they allegedly threw a large branch at a cyclist below. Thankfully, the cyclist was unharmed.
Attack Details and Suspect Descriptions
After leaving the bridge, the two suspects were confronted by the pensioner on Honeybourne Way. An exchange took place before one man punched the victim in the face, knocking him to the ground. Both suspects then fled the scene.
- First man: White, 20-30 years old, muscular, bald. Wearing a black T-shirt with white writing, black shorts, black socks, and grey shoes.
- Second man: White, similar age, topless. Wearing black shorts with a logo on the left leg, a grey cap, white socks, and grey trainers.
Forensics and Public Appeal
The Honeybourne Line remains closed as forensic teams examine the scene. CID detectives have reviewed CCTV footage and are appealing for anyone who recognises the men to come forward. Contact police on 101, quoting incident 430 of April 8, if you have any information.
