A 16-year-old girl suffered a violent death after a single stab wound to the chest, an inquest has revealed. Chloe Watson Dransfield, from Gomersal, was found with fatal injuries on Kennerleigh Avenue, Austhorpe, on Saturday, 28 March.

Three Charged with Murder

Police have charged Kayla Smith, 18, of Kennerleigh Avenue, Archie Rycroft, 19, from Middleton Park Road, and a 17-year-old boy (identity under legal restriction) with murder. They are set to face trial at Leeds Crown Court this November.

Inquest Opens at Wakefield Coroner’s Court

On Friday, 10 April, Wakefield Coroner’s Court opened an inquest into Chloe’s death. Coroner Oliver Longstaff confirmed a post-mortem showed Chloe died from a stab wound to the chest, describing it as a “violent death.” The court was told the heartbroken father, Mark Watson Dransfield, formally identified her body. Proceedings have been adjourned pending the criminal trial.
