Escaped Criminal Hands Himself In
Life-sentenced burglar Ian Butcher, 55, was arrested this morning in the Derbyshire village of Swadlincote after voluntarily approaching a police officer to hand himself in. Manhunt After Prison Escape
Butcher escaped from HMP North Sea Camp in Boston on May 31st. He was serving a life sentence for aggravated burglary at the time of his daring breakout. Police launched a 24/7 manhunt to track him down.
Accomplice Arrested Amid Investigation
Last night, a 56-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender connected to Butcher’s abduction escape. He remains in custody as enquiries continue.
