A man has been locked up for running illegal brothels across Birmingham. Dongping Xiao, 42, was caught red-handed supervising sex workers at two separate addresses.
Caught in the Act Twice
Officers first stumbled upon Xiao last September at an Edgbaston property. He denied any involvement in sex work, yet two women and clear evidence of sex activities were found inside. In February, police visited a Bradford Street property and again discovered women and items linked to prostitution. It turned out Xiao was acting as a “minder,” overseeing and facilitating the sex work at both locations.
Convicted and Sentenced
Xiao was arrested on the spot. After a thorough investigation, he faced charges for keeping two brothels. On Wednesday, 15 April, Birmingham Crown Court sentenced the man of no fixed address to one year behind bars.
