Thames Water is dealing with two burst water mains in the E18 area, with households across parts of east and north-east London and Essex warned their water supplies could be affected. The incidents have forced the closure of part of Chigwell Road, with motorists being advised to follow diversions and allow additional time for their journeys. The affected postcode areas are E4, E18, IG2, IG4, IG5, IG6, IG7, IG8, IG9 and RM4. Thames Water teams are working in the area to deal with the bursts and restore supplies.
Bottled water being delivered
Bottled water is being delivered to vulnerable customers who are registered as water-dependent on Thames Water’s Priority Services Register. Teams are already in the affected area carrying out deliveries. Drivers travelling along Chigwell Road and surrounding routes are being urged to take care, follow the diversions in place and expect additional journey times while the emergency works continue. Residents may experience reduced water pressure or interruptions to their supply while repairs are carried out. There is currently no confirmed time for when the repairs will be completed or when Chigwell Road will fully reopen. Further updates are expected as work progresses.
