Machete Gang on Mopeds Terrorises Wolesley Avenue
On Monday night, a masked gang of four to five men zoomed through Wolesley Avenue on mopeds and e-bikes. Around 5.05pm, they tried to snatch a man’s e-bike. When the victim fought back, one thug whipped out a machete. Luckily, the gang fled empty-handed, leaving the bike behind.
Teen Slashed in Knife Attack on Kingswood Avenue
Just over an hour later, horror struck again. At 6.15pm, a 15-year-old boy was slashed with a blade, believed to be a machete, on Kingswood Avenue. His injuries aren’t life-threatening, but it’s a chilling escalation. Two suspects, dressed in black, sped off on an electric bike and moped.
Police Launch Crackdown with Section 60 Stop and Search
Police are not taking this lying down. Two males, aged 18 and 14, have been arrested and are now in custody. To clamp down on the violence, cops have enforced a Section 60 order across Park North, Park South, Walcot, Nythe, and Eldene. Until 5am on 17 March, officers can stop and search anyone — no questions asked — and force suspects to remove face coverings for ID.
