Teen Arrested in East London Terror Probe
A 17-year-old boy was arrested early Tuesday morning in east London on suspicion of terrorism and indecent image offences. The Met’s Counter Terrorism unit detained him under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act at around 7am on 24 October.
Serious Terror and Image Charges
The teenager faces multiple charges. Authorities suspect he was collecting material useful for planning or carrying out a terror attack, under Section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000. He is also accused of possessing indecent photos of a child and extreme pornographic images, breaking laws in the Criminal Justice Acts of 1988 and 2008.
Released on Bail as Investigation Deepens
After being held in a central London police station, the youth was released on strict conditional bail. He must return to the station in mid-November. Sources reveal the probe is connected to Islamist extremism, underlining the gravity of the case.
