Three Arrested After Deadly Police Chase
A devastating crash in Basildon just after 2:30am GMT has left one young man dead and three others injured. Essex Police say officers tried to pull over a white Citroen Berlingo van before it smashed into a wall on Pound Lane, Bowers Gifford.
Suspects Held on Serious Charges
Police arrested an 18-year-old woman, a 17-year-old girl, and a 17-year-old boy. All three face charges including causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, and driving under the influence of drink or drugs.
The case is now with the police watchdog for further investigation.
Police Plea for Witnesses
“Insp Mark Fraser said:
“My officers have been working through the night to begin to establish the circumstances leading up to this collision in which a young man sadly lost his life.
I need anyone who saw what happened or has any CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage to contact my team.”
The road was closed for several hours but has now reopened.
