A fatal fire tore through a home in Brearton on Saturday night, leaving a woman in her late 60s dead at the scene. Emergency services were called at 10.09pm by worried neighbours who spotted the blaze.

Fire crews rushed in, battling to put out the fire and ventilate the smoke-filled property. Despite their best efforts alongside paramedics, the woman could not be saved.

Thankfully, no other occupants were inside the house, and nearby homes escaped damage.
