Partygoer hit with £10,000 fine after 50-strong rave busted in Stockport flat

Midnight Madness Ends in Massive Fine

On Saturday 24 October 2020, police stormed a noisy party at a rented flat on St Petergate, Stockport. Around 1.45am, officers arrived to find over 50 revellers packed inside with a DJ pumping out loud music. The gathering was swiftly shut down, dispersing the crowd and bringing an end to the illegal bash.

Landlord Clueless as Flat Turns into Party Den

After the party was broken up, police contacted the property owner, who had rented out the flat unaware it was being used as a party hotspot. Police launched an investigation to track down the ringleader behind the event.

Organiser Slapped with £10K Coronavirus Fine

Last night, the party organiser was hit with a hefty £10,000 fixed penalty notice for breaking coronavirus laws. Superintendent Andrew Sidebotham of Greater Manchester Police said:

“This party showed blatant disregard for COVID rules designed to protect our community during the pandemic. It diverted our already stretched resources from people in urgent need. This behaviour is completely unacceptable. I hope this fine serves as a clear warning — we won’t tolerate flagrant breaches of coronavirus laws.”

He added:

“Though the property was rented, our officers tracked down the organiser to make sure he faced the consequences for endangering public health. Thanks to everyone abiding by the rules during these tough times — we all need to do our part to keep the community safe.”
