Man Arrested After Woman Stabbed in Manchester
A 24-year-old woman was stabbed in a shocking attack in Withington, Manchester. Police have arrested a suspect and are hunting for more information.
Knife Attack on Mother and Child
The drama unfolded at around 1:30pm on Saturday, 29 August 2020. The woman was walking with her five-year-old son on Rudheath Avenue when a man armed with a knife approached her. Without warning, he stabbed her before fleeing on foot towards Bromborough Avenue and Whitchurch Road.
Emergency services rushed to the scene. The woman was taken to hospital with stab wounds to her leg and is now in stable condition. Thankfully, her son escaped uninjured.
Police Urge Public to Come Forward
Detective Inspector John Robb of GMP’s City of Manchester district slammed the attack as “vicious and unprovoked,” confirming it is being treated as attempted murder.
“I understand this will cause concern in the community,” DI Robb said. “But we are doing everything we can to catch the culprit and bring him to justice. Residents will see increased police patrols while investigations continue. Please speak to officers if you have any concerns.”
