Man Shot by Police in Dramatic Wick Road Gun Probe
At 11.30am today, police stormed a home on Wick Road, Wick St Lawrence, investigating possible firearms offences. A man inside, in his 30s, was shot by officers during the operation.
The injured man was given first aid on the scene before being rushed to Southmead Hospital. He is now in a critical but stable condition. His family has been informed and is being kept updated.
Police Launch Independent Probe After Shooting
A cordon remains in place on Wick Road as detectives comb through the scene. Chief Inspector Adam O’Loughlin acknowledged the local shock:
“We understand the local community will be shocked and people will want to know what happened.”
“Because someone was injured, we’ve referred the case to the Independent Office for Police Conduct. They will carry out a full independent investigation.”
“We’re committed to being open and transparent and will fully cooperate with the IOPC.”
He also added:
“Our thoughts are with the man and his loved ones as he continues treatment at hospital.”

Officers are urging anyone concerned about the incident to speak directly with officers at the scene or contact their local neighbourhood team. The investigation is ongoing.
