Three Years On, Murder Mystery: Anonymous Caller Could Crack Sami Sidhom Case
Detectives are chasing a vital anonymous tip in the brutal stabbing of 18-year-old Sami Sidhom. The teen was fatally attacked just before 11pm on April 16, 2018, as he walked home in Newham after watching West Ham play Stoke City at the London Stadium.
£20,000 Reward for Sami’s Killers
Police have offered a reward of up to £20,000 for info leading to the arrest and conviction of those behind Sami’s murder. Since 2018, 10 people have been arrested, but no charges made. Now, cops are urgently appealing to one mysterious caller who’s provided anonymous tips before but never spoken face-to-face with officers.
Detective Inspector John Marriott, Met’s Serious Crime Command: “I understand how daunting it can be to come forward after such a terrible crime but investigations like this rely on the bravery of witnesses who find it in themselves to do so. Sami’s family have been devastated by the senseless loss of their son. For three years they have had only questions, but no justice. I urge anyone who has information, especially the anonymous tipster, to contact us.”
Heartbreaking Plea from Sami’s Father
Sami’s dad, Samer Sidhom, made an emotional call for witnesses to step up. He said:
“My only son, Sami, was stabbed to death near his home after watching his favourite football team, West Ham. He was only 18. Sami was a kind, hardworking young man, respected by all who knew him. Some cowards stabbed him in the back for no reason whatsoever. His killers are still free and I need you to help convict them. If you know who did this, you have a choice: hide in the dark or be brave and set things right. Sami was innocent. The only thing standing between these killers and others is you.”
The Night of the Attack: What CCTV Reveals
On that dreadful night, Sami took a bus to Romford Road, then walked through Sebert Road, Cranmer Road, Capel Road, and finally into Chestnut Avenue. CCTV captured a silver car approaching where Sami crossed, followed by three men chasing him back along Chestnut Avenue. The silver car and another vehicle sped off after the attack.
Police urge anyone with information or who witnessed the assault to call detectives on 020 8345 3715. All tips are handled sensitively by experienced officers ready to help you come forward.
