Speeding Stolen Van Busted in High-Stakes Police Chase

Nottinghamshire Police’s Road Crime Team sprung into action after spotting a suspected stolen van tearing through the Giltbrook area at around 8.40pm on Friday, 31 March 2023. The van, believed to be linked to the theft of another vehicle, was spotted driving dangerously on the wrong side of the road and at excessive speeds.

Reckless Driver Fails to Stop, Police Give Chase

The driver made a sudden U-turn, speeding back toward the A610, ignoring wet road conditions and risking lives. When the van refused to stop, officers authorised a pursuit. Despite the slippery roads, the van was driven dangerously until police executed tactical contact to bring it to a halt.

Three Men Arrested After Stolen Van Stop

At the scene, officers detained three men aged 28, 29, and 46. Investigations revealed that the van had been stolen earlier this year on 21 January 2023. The suspects face charges of theft of a motor vehicle and various driving offences.

“This positive result was thanks to a great team effort and highlights our determination to keep people safe by stopping vehicles believed to be involved in criminality,” said Detective Sergeant Franco Guddemi.

“Proactive policing of the roads is a vital component in combatting crime and we will continue to do everything in our power to pursue and catch those suspected to be involved in crime.”
