Teen Busted After Wild Moped Chase in Islington
A 17-year-old has been arrested following a high-speed moped pursuit through Islington after riding the wrong way down Camden Road.
Dangerous Driving Sparks Police Pursuit
At around 11:30am on Wednesday, 17 June, officers from Operation Venice spotted a moped blatantly ignoring road rules. The rider turned right on a one-way street, forcing a heavy goods vehicle to swerve to avoid a crash.
When officers tried to stop the moped, it screeched onto the pavement and sped away. The rider risked lives by mounting pavements, running red lights, and driving on the wrong side of the road during the chase.
Moped Rider Crashes and Flees on Foot
The moped went out of control on Torriano Avenue, causing the rider to drop it and run. Officers quickly caught the teenager on foot in nearby North Villas.
