A21 SHUT DOWN! Fallen Tree and Power Lines Cause Chaos in Kent

The A21 is closed both ways between the A2100 (Johns Cross) and A28 (Baldslow) after a huge tree came crashing down, also taking out nearby power lines. Kent Police and Fire & Rescue teams are on site, tackling the mess and keeping the public safe.

Diversions in Place – Follow the Hollow Symbols!

  • Southbound (Hollow Circle): Traffic must leave the A21 at the B2089 Park Lane, heading east to Cripps Corner. Drivers then continue along the B2089 to the A28 junction at Broad Oak Brede, before turning west on the A28 towards Hastings to rejoin the A21 at Ebdens Hill.
  • Northbound (Hollow Square): Traffic exits the A21 at Ebdens Hill, follows the A28 east, and retraces the southbound diversion route back.

Expect Delays – Plan, Check, and Stay Safe

Motorists should brace for hold-ups both on the A21 approaches and on diversion routes.

  • Plan Ahead: Give yourself extra time or find alternative routes.
  • Stay Updated: Check Traffic England, travel apps, or call the National Highways helpline 24/7 on 0300 123 5000.

Warning: Power Lines and Weather Risks!

Authorities urge extreme caution around the closure zone given the damaged power lines and possible weather hazards in the area. The situation is ongoing, and updates will follow as teams clear the road.
