Aldi Pulls Cheeky Monkey Ice Cream Over Hidden Gluten Risk!

Urgent Recall After Undeclared Wheat Discovered

Aldi has launched an immediate recall of its Gianni’s Cheeky Monkey Ice Cream 500ml tubs. The creamy treat contains undeclared wheat (gluten), a ticking health timebomb for allergy sufferers. The affected batches carry a best before date of 14 August 2027.

Coeliac & Wheat Allergy Alert: Don’t Take the Risk

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued a stark warning for anyone with coeliac disease or wheat/gluten allergies. The ice cream doesn’t list wheat as an ingredient, leaving vulnerable customers exposed to potentially severe allergic reactions.

“This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with coeliac disease and/or an allergy or intolerance to wheat (gluten),” the FSA stated.

Aldi is displaying in-store notices and urging shoppers who bought the ice cream to return it immediately for a full refund. If you have a wheat or gluten allergy, do NOT eat this product.

Why Gluten Dangers Are No Joke for Coeliacs

Coeliac disease is an autoimmune disorder where gluten triggers the immune system to attack the small intestine. This damages nutrient absorption, causing symptoms like diarrhoea, bloating, and abdominal pain.

The NHS warns, “Your immune system attacks your own tissues when you eat gluten. This damages your gut (small intestine) so your body cannot properly take in nutrients.”
