Man Killed in Southwark Hit-and-Run: Police Hunt Witnesses
Police are urgently appealing for witnesses after a fatal collision in Southwark claimed the life of a 24-year-old man. The tragic crash happened in the early hours of Saturday, 7 April.
Fatal Car Crash on Kennington Park Road
At around 4:35am, officers from the Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command were called to Kennington Park Road, near the junction with Penton Place, SE17. A car had struck a pedestrian, who was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim’s next of kin have been informed. Formal identification and a post-mortem are still pending.
Driver Arrested on Drug-Related Charges
The driver, also 24, stayed at the scene but was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving while under the influence of drugs. He has since been released under investigation as inquiries continue.
Police Plead for Witnesses
DC Clay O’Neill said: “There are still witnesses who have not come forward that we would very much like to speak to. If you have any piece of information however small, please do contact us.”
