Shock and outrage have erupted after vandals desecrated 85 graves in the Muslim section of Carpenders Park Lawn Cemetery in Watford. Police have confirmed the attack is an Islamophobic hate crime.
Widespread Damage to Graves of Babies and Children
The extensive vandalism was uncovered on Sunday. It included broken plaques, smashed headstones, and topsoil ripped away. Many of the damaged graves belong to babies and young children, making the attack even more heart-wrenching. Pictures show tiny name plaques thrown across the grass, many torn from broken wooden stakes.
