A body has been discovered in the stairwell of a block of flats on Walton Green Road in New Addington, prompting a major police response and the establishment of a crime scene.
Metropolitan Police officers were called to the scene earlier today, Monday 24th February 2025 where they found the deceased on the stairs within the residential building. The circumstances surrounding the death are currently unknown, and a full investigation is underway.

Blue sheeting has been erected around the area within the building, likely to shield the scene from public view. Officers from the Met Police remain on-site, maintaining a cordon around the building to secure the crime scene.
The identity of the deceased and the cause of death have not yet been disclosed. Police have not confirmed whether the incident is being treated as suspicious at this stage.

Local residents expressed shock and concern over the discovery. One neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, said, “It’s frightening to see all the police and the blue sheets. We don’t know what’s happened, but it’s unsettling to have something like this happen so close to home.”

The crime scene remains in place as officers continue their investigation.
