Child Rescued from Fiery Flat Blaze in Leyton

A child is in hospital after being pulled from a burning flat above a shop in Leyton on December 23.

Blaze Erupts on High Road

The London Fire Brigade was called to a flat fire at 7:31 PM following three emergency calls. Around 25 firefighters from Leytonstone, Stratford, and Homerton stations raced to the scene with four fire engines.

They faced a fierce blaze in a three-room flat on the second floor. Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and rescued a child who was rushed to hospital for treatment. A man was treated at the scene and released.

Fire Under Control, Investigation Underway

The fire caused extensive damage but was under control by 8:59 PM. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.

London Fire Brigade spokesperson: “Our teams acted swiftly to ensure everyone’s safety and brought the fire under control efficiently. We wish the child a speedy recovery and will work diligently to find out what started the fire.”

Local residents applauded the emergency services’ fast reaction. One eyewitness said, “It’s heartbreaking to see this happen, especially so close to Christmas. I’m relieved the child was rescued in time.”
