Quick-thinking passersby pulled two people from the water and performed CPR on an unconscious man. Despite their life-saving attempts and the rapid response of emergency crews, the man, in his 70s from Kingsbridge, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman involved in the incident was taken to hospital as a precaution. Authorities say she is expected to make a full recovery.
