Shameless Thief Swipes £8,000 from Pensioner at Sainsbury’s Cash Point
A brazen conman struck at lunchtime on Friday, 23rd September, targeting a man in his 70s at a Sainsbury’s cash point on Southend Lane, Bell Green, SE26. The culprit used a sneaky distraction trick with a piece of paper before shoving the victim aside and grabbing his bank card.
Getaway Car Had Cloned Number Plate
The suspect sped off in a vehicle later discovered to be sporting a cloned number plate – a neat trick to dodge the law. The victim was horror-struck after finding two fraudulent transactions draining over £8,000 from his account.
Police Hunt Man Linked to Multiple Card Theft Robberies
Detectives are hot on the heels of the suspect and have released CCTV images, urging the public for help. They believe this crime is connected to three more robberies involving stolen bank cards at supermarket cash points across London:
- Streatham High Street, Lambeth on 29 September – £2,000 stolen
- Nuxley Road, Belvedere on 28 September – £500 stolen
- Baring Road, Bromley on 23 September – £2,825 stolen
