Early Morning Dishwasher Fire Shakes Rodmersham Home
A dishwasher malfunction sparked a house fire in Highsted Valley, Rodmersham, Sittingbourne, in the early hours of Sunday, 18 May. The blaze broke out while the occupants were fast asleep, sending Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) rushing to the scene.
Fire control received the emergency call at 01:24am and immediately dispatched three fire engines. Firefighters, decked out in breathing apparatus, tackled the flames with high-pressure hose reel jets. Luckily, no one was injured. The fire was contained quickly, preventing major damage, with crews staying on site until 02:11am to ensure the area was safe.
