Asda Pulls Pork Belly Slices Over Dangerous Undeclared Allergens

Asda has urgently recalled its popular Simple To Cook Asian Inspired Pork Belly Slices after discovering serious allergen risks. Customers are warned not to eat the product as it contains undeclared milk and sulphites—both known allergens.

Mispacked Pork Product Sparks Safety Alert

The trouble started when some packs were mispacked with Tomato & Mozzarella Pork Meatballs. This triggered a “do not eat” order from both Asda and the Food Standards Agency (FSA).

  • Product: Simple To Cook Asian Inspired Pork Belly Slices
  • Use by date: 25 April 2025
  • Barcode: 5063089827178

“If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents and/or a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites, do not eat it. Return it to the store for a full refund.” – FSA

No receipt is needed to get your money back.

Asda Issues Apology to Shaken Customers

In a statement, Asda said:

“We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused. If you would like further information, please contact Asda Customer Relations on 0800 952 0101.”

The retailer confirmed no other products or date codes are affected by this recall.

Hidden Allergens Spell Serious Health Risks

Milk and sulphites are common allergens that can trigger severe reactions—ranging from skin rashes to life-threatening anaphylaxis. Experts stress that even tiny traces of undeclared allergens are dangerous to those with sensitivities.

Recent Food Recall Spree Continues

This latest scare follows a similar recall by Aldi earlier this month, also over undeclared milk in a ready meal product. Such incidents highlight the importance of vigilance when buying pre-packaged foods.
