Two Men Seriously Injured in Fall at Edgbaston Building Site on Bristol Road

Two men have been seriously injured following a fall at a building site in Edgbaston, Birmingham.

The incident occurred around 8:30am on Monday morning at a construction site on Bristol Road, prompting a major emergency response involving paramedics, police, and the fire service.

Multi-Agency Rescue Operation on Fourth Floor

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed that HART paramedics, two ambulances, two paramedic officers, and a MERIT trauma team were dispatched to the scene. They were supported by West Midlands Fire Service and West Midlands Police.

“On arrival, crews found two men on the fourth floor of a building site who had been injured,” said a spokesperson.
HART paramedics worked with fire colleagues to reach the men before they were safely lowered to the ground.

Both men received advanced trauma care at the scene. One of the individuals, reported to have more serious injuries, was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The second was transported to Midlands Metropolitan University Hospital for further treatment.

Investigation Underway

Details of how the fall occurred have not yet been confirmed. It is unclear whether any safety equipment was in use at the time. An investigation is expected to be launched by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to determine the cause of the incident.

The building site remains active, though part of the area has been cordoned off.
