Two men seriously injured in dramatic fall at Edgbaston construction site

Chaos erupted at a building site on Bristol Road, Birmingham, as two men plummeted from the fourth floor on Monday morning.

Major Rescue Operation on Fourth Floor

The incident happened around 8:30am, triggering a massive emergency response. HART paramedics, two ambulances, two paramedic officers, and a MERIT trauma team rushed to the scene. They were joined by West Midlands Fire Service and West Midlands Police in a high-stakes rescue mission.

“On arrival, crews found two men on the fourth floor of a building site who had been injured,” a spokesperson said. HART paramedics worked with fire colleagues to reach the men before they were safely lowered to the ground.

Both men were given advanced trauma care on site. The man with more serious injuries was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital. His companion was taken to Midlands Metropolitan University Hospital for treatment.

Cause of Fall Still Unknown

The exact circumstances behind the fall remain unclear. It’s not known if any safety equipment was in use when the men fell. Authorities expect the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to launch a full probe.

The construction site is still operational, but parts have been cordoned off while investigations continue.
