Stanmore Crash: Woman in 80s in Critical Condition
A woman in her 80s is fighting for her life after a nasty collision in Stanmore this morning. The crash, which happened on January 8, left three people injured and stunned the local community.
Road Closure at The Common
The Common, the busy stretch between Stanmore and Bushey, has been shut since around 11:00 am. Police closed the road after two cars collided, injuring three people, including the elderly lady who remains in critical condition.
Emergency Services Rush to Scene
The Metropolitan Police got the call at 10:51 am reporting the smash at the junction of Stanmore Hill and Heathbourne Road. Officers arrived fast, backed up by paramedics from the London Ambulance Service.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We sent an incident response officer, two ambulance crews, and a fast-response medic to the scene. We treated three people, with two taken to hospital for further care.”
Ongoing Investigation and Family Notified
The woman driver remains in life-threatening condition in hospital. Police have informed her family. Two others sustained minor injuries. The investigation into what sparked the crash continues.
