Fourth Arrest Made Over Canterbury Blaze
Detectives have nabbed a fourth suspect linked to the fiery chaos that erupted in Canterbury city centre earlier this week.
Blaze Breaks Out on Guildhall Street
Kent Police rushed to help firefighters tackle a fire that broke out around 8:45pm on Monday, 2 December 2024, at a property on Guildhall Street. The blaze forced road closures and saw some local residents evacuated as emergency crews battled the flames.
Four Teens Now in Custody
- On Friday, 6 December, a 16-year-old boy from Canterbury was arrested on suspicion of arson. He’s now out on bail while enquiries continue.
- This follows earlier arrests of a 12-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy on 4 and 3 December respectively, both also released on bail.
- A 15-year-old lad from Ashford, arrested on 4 December, was released without charge.
Police Urge Public to Come Forward
Kent Police have thanked those who have provided information but continue to call on witnesses or anyone with details to get in touch. The investigation is ongoing as officers work to uncover what sparked the city centre inferno.
