Call The Midwife star Georgie Glen reveals personal link to emotional Miss Higgins plot twist
Georgie Glen, famous for playing Millicent Higgins in the hit BBC drama Call The Midwife, has shared how a recent storyline hits close to home. The 67-year-old actress says the poignant plot mirrors her own memories of her late mother, adding raw emotion to her final scenes.
Miss Higgins faces shocking secret in finale
As the beloved series wraps up, Glen has teased a dramatic twist for Miss Higgins. A “mysterious figure” will arrive, forcing her to confront a deeply hidden secret. Fans can expect an intense farewell episode packed with heartfelt revelations.
Georgie’s personal connection to the role
Glen opened up in an interview with The Express about how her character reminds her of her mother. She recalled a moment from her youth when her mother revealed a hidden past during a tense family crisis.
“What’s lovely about the character is she’s not just two-dimensional, there is a whole person there with a past – and I often liken her to my mother, actually, who lived in that sort of age at that time,” Georgie said.
“I remember her coming out with something about her past when I was in my 20s. My father had had a stroke and was in the hospital. It was that first night when you’re all slightly electrified and waiting to hear what’s happening, and you speak in a very unguarded way.”
Glen also confessed some regret over not fully processing her mother’s revelation at the time, underlining how painful memories are often buried deep.
Finale promises emotional fireworks
The final episode airs on March 10, promising fans an unforgettable send-off. Georgie is buzzing about the heartfelt storyline and her on-screen chemistry with Linda, who plays Trixie Franklin.
With its blend of genuine emotion and gripping drama, Call The Midwife is set to close with a bang – and Georgie Glen’s powerful portrayal of Miss Higgins will be right at the heart of it.
