Man Arrested After Fatal Stabbing on Trafalgar Road Recovers from Injuries
Police have confirmed a man arrested over a deadly stabbing on Trafalgar Road is no longer in critical condition. The brutal attack, which left a 29-year-old woman dead, has sparked an ongoing murder investigation.
Woman Dies at Scene, Suspect Taken to Hospital
The horrific incident unfolded at around 10.20pm on Wednesday, 27 August, when officers rushed to a Trafalgar Road address following reports of a stabbing. Paramedics found a 29-year-old woman with serious wounds. Despite their best efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 33-year-old man, believed to be known to the victim, was also found injured with life-threatening wounds. He was taken to hospital and arrested on suspicion of murder. Police have now confirmed he has recovered from his injuries and is no longer critical.
No charges have been filed as the investigation continues.
Detective Inspector Speaks Out
“Our thoughts are with the victim’s family, who at this unimaginably difficult time are being supported by specialist officers,” said Detective Inspector Mark Franklin, leading the probe.
“We know this incident will cause great concern within the community. While we are confident this is an isolated incident, residents will see an increased police presence in the area. If you are concerned, please speak to one of the officers on patrol.”
Following the stabbing, police imposed a cordon on Tyler Street as detectives gathered evidence.
