Olena Shevelyova, a Ukrainian passenger waiting for a flight to Milan, told how terrified travellers were evacuated without explanation. Minutes later, gunshots rang out, forcing people to take cover behind technical buildings on the runway.
“We didn’t know what was happening at first. It was only after we were far away from the airport that officials told us about the shooting,” said Shevelyova.
